Pre-operative Information

The decision of undergoing a surgery plastic aesthetics is very personal and important. Fortunately these surgeries in their majority are elective, not an urgency, this factor gives you time to be informed of the details of the procedure that will be performed. In a consultation the surgeon will dedicate more time to respond you all your questions. So that way you will arrive to the surgerywith a with a high grade of confidence based in reaching realistic results.

The objective is to obtain a natural result improving the appearance and reducing any abnormality. The esthetic surgical procedures have been repeated carefully many times and they are predictable when they are performed for an experienced plastic surgeon.

Fortunately the majority of the results of the plastic surgeries are highly satisfactory and gratifying when they go accompanied by a careful planning and a complete cooperation of the patient.

In the first consultation we will speak of your desires and we will examine the part of your body that you want to correct or improve, giving you an idea of what is possible to obtain as a result.

Your state of health in general will be evaluated carefully; will be necessary to know specifically about allergies to medicines, types of surgeries performed previously, medicines that you are taking and any condition that could have importance for your surgery.

Photographs to the area of you body that you want to modify will be taken to help in the planning of the surgery. You will be requested a surgical risk, this is the evaluation by a cardiologist; also exams of laboratory (blood) and in some cases will be requested additional exams like x-rays, mammograms, etc.

Also the type of anesthesia will be chosen for your surgery, informing you that 80% of operations are performed with local anesthesia with sedation, with this anesthesia you will be totally asleep and you will wake up when the surgery has concluded; this modality allows you to performed your surgery by morning and leave the clinic by the evening. If it is necessary you may stay at the clinic by one or two days.
In some special cases and if the patient prefers, we use general anesthesia.
